Lunch Time Day 3

Who's hungry for some lunch?

Today we would like to share our lunches with you.

Firstly - the fun lunchtime experience. Dad and Miss A went out for Sushi. Miss A loves her food and trying new flavours, today was no exception, she tried pickled octopus and seaweed. Luckily the food was served on reusable plates (and single use bamboo chopsticks). They also avoided the little single use soy sauce plastic fish - with soy in glass jars on the tables.

We put a lot of Miss A's love of food adventures down to our approach to introducing solid foods which was 'baby led weaning'. Which is really just a fancy term for letting her feed herself from around 6 months. We just gave her family food, basically whatever we were eating (we made a couple of adjustments, the main one being omitting salt from cooking and seasoning our own food before eating). She's always sat at the table with us for meals and eaten a selection of what we've served up - no mush, no cooking extra or special meals, and most importantly a lot less waste and packaging! We're often amazed at the amount of packaging surrounding small food portions for babies and children.

Mum's lunch was far less exciting and was unfortunately eaten at her desk in between a busy schedule. But there was no single use plastic. I took in a salad made the night before, a tin of tuna, home made savoury crackers and a banana, along with my napkin (which I brought home to wash). We're definitely not ready to give up on tinned tuna quite yet as a quick and easy source of protein for lunch.

A suggestion and resource we'd love to share:
