Plastic Drink Bottles - the single use throw away kind

When it comes to single use throw away plastics nothing gets more flack than the plastic water bottle. Criticised for the contents on the inside (which are basically tap water), and for its plastic packaging.

Despite the fact that plastic drink bottles can be recycled, the majority are not, and each of these will take over 500 years to decompose. If that doesn't bother you what about the cost. A bottle of water costs around $2.50 AUD versus only a few cents per litre for tap water.

This is another 'Big four' item that we haven't bought in a really long time, and are committed to not buying again. It's not hard to carry a reusable drink bottle.

Some of our family's suggestions:

• Take your own reusable drink bottle with you when you leave the house for work or play.
• Try switching to glass bottles. They are much easier to clean and have no effect on the taste or smell of your drink.
